Graduate Certificate in the Engaged and Public Humanities: June 2018

ReinventPhD at Georgetown is thrilled to announce the launch of our inaugural Graduate Certificate in the Engaged & Public Humanities.

The dates for the program are June 21 – 23, 2018 and the times of required attendence are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m each day, including the Career Expo on June 23. We will hold our seminars in the Graduate School of the Arts and Sciences, the Car Barn, at Georgetown University.

What is the engaged and public humanities?

We welcome invite graduate students, graduating seniors, and early career humanities professionals to join us for a three-day Institute, capped by the Career Expo for Humanities Scholars. The Institute will offer a robust introduction to the theories and methods of the engaged and public humanities through interactive and collaborative instruction and workshops with humanities faculty and practitioners. We will learn not only how to articulate and communicate the value of the humanities, but also how to intervene in some of the greatest challenges we face as a global community.

Career Expo

The program will culminate with a Career Expo, featuring resume and interview workshops geared toward future humanities professionals. The Expo will host participants from universities across the D.C. area, who will have the chance to network with a broad array of employers in the D.C. region, from libraries and think tanks to corporations and governmental agencies, interested in hiring humanities scholars. At the end of the day, each participant will receive a Graduate Certificate in the Engaged & Public Humanities.

Who should apply?

This program is designed for graduate students at any degree level, post-baccalaureate graduating seniors, and early-career professionals who are interested in the role that the humanities can play in every sector of public and private enterprise.
