Beyond Academia: Georgetown’s Inaugural Career Fair for Humanities Scholars will bring together current and recent graduate students in a variety of humanities disciplines interested in careers beyond academia. Disciplines represented will include history, literature, philosophy, art and art history, theology, and Islamic studies. Current and recent graduate students in the humanities from around the Washington, DC area will be invited. 

Beyond Academia is a perfect opportunity for current or recent humanities graduate students interested in or curious about jobs outside academia.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never attended a career fair like this before. How can I prepare?

Leading up to the Career Fair, Georgetown Connected Academics and the Cawley Career Education Center will host several workshops designed to prepare humanities graduates for non-academic career fairs and the non-academic job market more generally. The workshops are free, and you are welcome to attend the workshops even if you will not attend the Career Fair.

Is there a fee to register for the event? 

No. The event is free. 

Can I attend the Career Fair even if I’m not currently looking for a job or an internship?

Yes, absolutely. You’re more than welcome to attend the event even if you think you might consider applying for a non-academic job in the future.

Can I attend if I’m not a Georgetown student?

Yes, absolutely.

Can I attend CNDLS’s TLISI as well?

If you are currently affiliated with Georgetown University, you are welcome to register for CNDLS’s Teaching, Learning & Innovation Summer Institute (TLISI) as well. Only a limited number of slots are available at TLISI for non-Georgetown affiliates, however. If you are not affiliated with Georgetown University and would like to register for TLISI, please contact Tony Manela, Lab Director of Connected Academics.
